I have these Dreams……to Live for
I am not sure what does that mean exactly but what I understood is 9:00 to 5:00 job should be known by you.
This line made me look back in my life and when I looked back, I really didn’t have anything for which I could relate myself to the above. I had nothing for which I feel like spending time on. I started thinking what I like the most? Couple of things came up like reading, somewhat writing, playing cricket but it was no different. I was looking for something different.
Again I looked back and tried to find out that 1 thing which I always wanted to do but I didn’t do it because I just thought of it and never took any initiative on that. Few things came up again.
First thing came to my mind, Quit Smoking (hahahahahahahaha….by the way am still smoking. Shital, you are burning yourself), some sort of adventure sports like trekking, rock/wall climbing. I enquired about wall climbing sometime back but that’s it, I didn’t do anything on that.
The very next day (3 months back), I called wall climbing guys again and asked them about timings and other stuff. Subsequent Saturday I just went there.... and continued going every weekend, must mention without a miss :). This is definitely one of the things that I wanted to do and I did it. It took 5 weekends to complete first level but Woooohooooo!!! I did it. Proud, happy & satisfied after a long time.
Wall Climbing opened many new things for me, now I am targeting for natural rock climbing. I am not sure when I will go for it but soon I will.
12th April 2006, was the 1st time when USA invited me ( my visa was stamped!!). That day I told my dad, what a sight will it be when my passport has visa stamps of different countries. This was always in the back of my mind. Now, I have this dream to have visa stamps of different countries and bless them with my visit :), but to achieve this I should be excellent in my profession. So far I have visited USA (two times), France and Switzerland (for 2 weeks) due to my profession. I have this dream to visit Sweden, Netherland and New Zealand. I think my manager MUST read my blog :)!!!
But again I realize Manager’s read on this may not help much as, I wish to spend at least 6 months in Netherland (owe this to my own fascination to have a routine of living and working in that country…6 months can extend too).
Some unexplored parts of the globe also attract me, Antarctica, Alaska and Mount Everest (some credit to Discovery or National Geography TV channels for introducing me). The itch to visit these places cannot be defined but only felt.
My dreams have kept the kid in me alive ( that’s the best part)!! Am I being foolish by having these dreams? Am I expecting too much out of me? Am I targeting too high? Am I day dreaming? Am I running after impossible things in my life? So far, I have not found the answer, but somewhere my inner voice says, Shital, you are behaving just the way one should when they want to live their dreams. Don’t worry about its fulfillment, but worry to keep them alive and reach them.
Living with my dreams is a way to fight all the odds against me ( whatever those may be), and I know I will cherish a few years later fulfilling them one by one.
So do you have one too??

When inner feeling becomes reality......
Very next moment I registered my self in that site and I sent my interest to her. I was sure that she will not or she can not refuse me as I was in USA, I was fitting in her preferred partner requirements (This was according to me :)) ) and she will never get a guy like me (I was thinking like that because I was in USA….so stupid I was :(). For 3-4 of days I checked my mails everyday (actually after every 1 hour) to see her response. One fine day she replied but she declined my interest :(. I was upset for couple of days (I still laugh on myself when I ask myself, why you were upset?).
While I was waiting for her response, I searched for her on almost all social networking sites as well as on Google to know more about her. I found that she is a blogger. I started to follow her blogs.
I convinced myself, Shital that’s how life works….don’t worry about it. I was back on track in couple of days but I was following her blogs regularly.
Slowly I started liking her blog, I started liking her as a writer and in the mean time I started feeling someday somewhere I will meet her (Just to clear something, after she declined my interest, I never thought of her like someday I will propose her or to marry her. I never commented her blogs to impress her or I have never made any attempt to talk to her using her blogs, I commented her blogs because I felt that way). I started feeling someday I will talk to her face to face for sure.
Initially, I didn’t know how to put my comments on her blog, so I got in touch with her on one of the social networking sites and asked for her email address. I was not expecting her reply but to my surprise she sent me her email ID and I started sending my comments to her email address.
OK…..I never tried to or never thought of adding her in my friend’s list of social networking site or I never tried to talk something other than her blog on her email ID. I was just going with the flow. I was like whatever is going on is the best and don’t try anything extra and screw up the things.
During all this time, day by day my feeling was getting stronger and stronger of meeting her someday.
Sometime in mid April 2010, I went to Bangalore with my cousin for some personal reasons. My flight was on Sunday at 1:30 PM from Mumbai domestic airport.
My cousin and I, we were just passing the time by checking mobile phone shop, reading news paper. I saw a book shop inside the airport and I went there to check out some books. By that time it was almost 12:45 PM. I checked some books, came out of that shop and I saw one girl. She was wearing Punjabi suit and looking gorgeous.
For a moment I was blank, my feet started walking in her direction and I said, "Hey, S" and I offered a handshake. S was little reluctant and having a big question mark on her face. I understood her expression and said "I am Shital". She recognized me after a second and said "Hi" and accepted my handshake. I told her I am going to Bangalore for some personal reasons. She asked me about my flight details and accidently (fortunately) we were on the same flight. While talking to her I stammered more than I normally do :(. I didn’t try to prolong the conversation and said "See you around (what the heck I was talking?)", she said "Bye." and I turned back.
I was having goose bumps. I didn’t believe I just met S. I didn’t believe I talked to S. She was the one for whom I waited for 4 years to see her and to talk to her. She was the one for whom I felt I will meet her someday for sure. Now, I started expecting more (typical human nature). I started thinking I will be luckier if her seat is next to me in the flight, (unfortunately for me fortunately for her :) ) I was not that lucky :(.
Now the other thrilling part of the story.....I was searching her in the flight, I was searching where is she sitting? She was nowhere near my seat:(. She was sitting 6-8 rows ahead of me. Anyways, flight took off. After sometime we were allowed to remove our seat belts. After few seconds, she got up from her seat and started walking towards airhostess who was standing at the end of the plane. At the same time, other airhostesses started serving snacks. They were almost at my seat. Now, S could not go to the end of the flight to meet that airhostess as other airhostess were in the alley. Alley was too small and only one person can go. S was standing next to my seat and waiting for them to move so that she can go to end of the plane. I was more than happy. She was just 2-3 steps away from me and she was there for 6-8 seconds. I was just staring at her. I was like I might not get the second chance to see her so make the maximum out of this. I could see her side face only, she was looking stunningly gorgeous.
After got down from the flight, I was expecting to meet/see her again, but no luck this time. We were running to catch a bus at the airport and I saw her again in a bus (unfortunately we were not in the same bus) and I waved at her to say bye.
After we got our bus, I started thinking did I talk to her properly? Did I end the conversation prematurely? I should have prolong the conversation so that we could talk more after this meeting.....suddenly a thick and deep voice came from inside....Shital, Don’t be too greedy, you always wanted to see her once and you did that. You always wanted to talk to her face to face and you talked to her, be happy in whatever you did and whatever you got.
That was one of the most memorable day of my life. Its not entirely because I met her, it’s because my inner feeling was correct. I truly wished to see her, meet her and talk to her without any expectation and it happened :).
I am not sure about her reaction if she read this blog, but whatever will happen, will happen for the best :).

Doll
She makes hundreds of faces in her sleep, and I just keep looking at her face. Initially I was scared to hold her in my arms but now I think I can manage. Couple of times she slept in my arms and I cannot explain that wonderful feeling. She sleeps for at least 18 hours a day and she wakes up for only two things……eating and crying :) (and of course to have fun with me :) :) )
The most beautiful thing is her smile when she is at sleep; a pure smile and I just love that.
Nowadays, I just don’t like coming to office. I want to stay back at home and want to spend my entire time with her. I love to talk to her; I am not sure how much she understands when I talk to her but I still love to talk to her. I try to go home early so that I can play with her but she goes to sleep by the time I reach home :(
She is 7 days old doll, my niece. I love her more than anything in my life.

The Eternal Optimist
I was reading about this guy in TOI* who cleared his 10th Standard (In India, We can join junior college only after we clear 10th Standard board exam (Matriculation)) exam in 44th attempt.
It took 27 long years to clear his exam. First time he appeared in the year 1977 and finally he cleared his 10th Standard exam in 2003. I truly admire this guy.
What I like about this guy is he stuck to his goal no matter what; he stuck to his goal in spite of these many failures. He was crystal clear in his mind about what he wants and he just went for it whole heartedly.
After he cleared his exam, he promoted to clerical level job from Peon (Office boy). :)
He could have let it go but he didn’t and that is the only reason for his success. I would like him to pursue for graduation; I am sure if he decides that he will achieve that.
I think we all have a thing or two to learn from him, don’t you think?

3 Idiots
I asked him, would you allow your son to play hockey and make his career into it (Field Hockey and not Ice Hockey) in case if he loves this game and wants to make his career in it. Straightaway he said “No, there is no money in that game (at least in India.)”
I am not sure by not allowing his son to play hockey, my friend is doing right or not, what would you do?
(“3 Idiots” is a recent Indian (Hindi) movie that has received praise from all across the country).

Mumbai Rickshawalas…..
I go home by auto rickshaw on every day as most of the time it is late in the evening and normally I pay Rs.15-16. I catch a rickshaw from one specific location so couple of auto drivers knows me and they drop me at my home without any direction from me. I have developed a friendship with them and few times they let go a rupee or two or sometime I do the same (because of change issue). One auto driver, he always takes Rs.4-5 less than what he should be takeing and I don’t k now why? We always have arguments on it. I always try to give him the money as per the meter and he always says give me Rs. 4-5 less, I just don’t know why he does that? I always tell him it is your hard earned money and you should take it and he says “kya leke aaye the aur kya leke jaayenge…” (We came to this world with empty hands and when we will die we will not take anything with us), but I make it a point that I pay him entirely. The question is still there “Why he is not taking entire money?”. Any idea?
One day, I was going in an auto for some work, Auto driver stopped the rickshaw at red signal and he was looking for something on the road, I didn’t understand what he was looking for? But it didn’t take much time for me to understand that. Suddenly he jumped red signal and when I asked him why he jumped red the signal, he said there was no traffic police and that’s why he jumped the red signal. I asked the relation between jumping the red signal and traffic police. Again he said, as there was no traffic police so I jumped the red signal. Then I realized that as there was no traffic police no one will catch him for jumping the red signal. I was like what the hell is going on here? I told him you can’t jump the red signal irrespective of presence of traffic police. This is one of the things that I don’t like about rickshawalas in Mumbai. I hope some day they will (Actually we all) follow the traffic rules.
