Chalta hai…….

I went to one of the European countries Consulate to stamp my visa in Mumbai -- India. My appointment was at 9:15 AM and I reached there by 9:08 AM.

One security guy started checking my bags and I just asked him, am I late for my visa stamping? He said No and he also said even if you are late also its OK (agar tum late bhi hai to chalega).

I was like, Boss, NO it’s not OK. If I am late then I am wasting my time and others time too. It’s not right to reach late unless and until you have really genuine reason.

This is India’s one of the biggest problem, "Chalta hai attitude". India has that capacity to grow and move ahead but this attitude is keeping us behind from other developed countries in the world.

Anyways…Shital, tell me one thing, are you reaching office on time? :(

Time -- Pink floyd

Ticking away the moments that make up a dull day
You fritter and waste the hours in an offhand way
Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town
Waiting for someone or something to show you the way

Tired of lying in the sunshine
Staying home to watch the rain
And you are young and life is long
And there is time to kill today And then one day you find
Ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run
You missed the starting gun

And you run, and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking
Racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath and one day closer to death

Every year is getting shorter
Never seem to find the time
Plans that either come to nought
Or half a page of scribbled lines
Hanging on in quiet desparation is the English way
The time is gone
The song is over
Thought I'd something more to say

Home, home again
I like to be here when I can
When I come home cold and tired
It's good to warm my bones beside the
fire Far away across the field
The tolling of the iron bell
Calls the faithful to their knees
To hear the softly spoken magic spells

Temporary Fixes

There is one module in my application was creating issues from last 3-4 months. When users raised an issue for the first time 3-4 months back in this functionality, I tried to understand this module half heartedly and I could not understand it properly (expected result as I tried half heartedly), and in the end I just applied temporary solution and fixed it :(. Somewhere I knew it will come back but I kindaa ignored it.

Users started raising issues in this specific module regularly and I kept on applying temporary fix to it. I was not at all happy with myself the way it was going.

Last week it happened again and that time I decided to fix this module once and for all. I made up my mind and spent entire 3 days on it.

First I understood the module completely, and then I executed that module in all possible scenarios. At the same time I noted down all issues and situations for it. In the end there was a minor change in 3 stored procedures and 1 change in .aspx page, that’s it and DONE…I fixed that module and everybody was happy. (I was the happiest among the lot :))

Same thing is applicable in our life also; we keep on applying temporary fixes to our problems in life and it keep on coming back to us with more complications.

Whether it’s your life or a software application, Temporary fixes never works.

Struggle

Struggle is to coping up and wins with all the difficulties and challenges that arise in different times through out the life.
Having a good job to support your family is a struggle, maintain or take your life style to next level is a struggle, making your family happy is a struggle, compete in this competitive and cruel world is a struggle.
But I am not gonna talk about a struggle which we are going through for our family or for our friends or in a job or to live in this world.
I am gonna talk about day to day struggle which we do it for solely for ourselves, like getting up before sun rise everyday without fail, having a smile on your face everyday in any circumstances, achieve whatever you have aimed only for yourself, when you decide to change something in your life for good for yourself and to achieve it, spending time for your hobbies or passion, to give up bad habits....
I think these struggles are tough because in all these struggles you will achieve something only for yourself and not for others and in these types of struggle you have to prove yourself to yourself only and I believe this is the most difficult task.
Sometime to start something new in our life itself is a struggle and even if we start something then to continue with it is a bigger struggle, like jogging or yoga or any physical exercise. First of all to start exercise itself is a struggle and once you start, it is more difficult to continue with it everyday. How many of us started going to gym and quit within few days or weeks, I am one of them for sure.
From past few weeks, every night I am telling myself, from tomorrow onwards I will wake up early, I will go for a morning walk, I will quit smoking but I am not able to even start it. Somehow I feel struggle is closely related to determination. We will determine for something if we have hope for it and We will struggle once we determine to achieve or get something in our life. But again to having a hope and to make determination itself is a struggle :) :)
Guys, I believe once we are successful in our day to day struggle, it will become somewhat easier to achieve success in our struggle for life.

*(Life is a continued struggle to be what we are not, and to do what we cannot.)
